Speaking of M.I.A.

M.I.A's new video for the song Born Free was banned on Youtube!  The song is from the upcoming third album which will be released on June 29.  For more info check out this article from the NY Daily News.  What do you think of this?

  1. Hey, I don't remember quite how I happened across your blog, but I hope you don't mind that I added you. And I also hope you won't mind if I add Grrrl Sounds to my Sisters in the Struggle link list on my blog.

Haven't read the Daily News article, but I don't think I want to. I'm surprised and appalled at the negative and dismissive response the video is getting from so many people, including feminist media bloggers and writers.

  2. Of course I don't mind if you add me!

I didn't think the Daily News article was very biased, it just seemed like typical mainstream media coverage to me. I haven't read any other aricles to comment... that's interesting though. I thought it was kind of radical and I think it's lame youtube banned it because they have crazy racist shit on there, but I also think it's good for M.I.A cos she's getting lots of publicitiy (if that's what she wanted.)

  3. I'm surprised it was banned, considering the nature of MANY Youtube videos. I think this is an excellent video.

  4. I saw this video, and it was nightmare inducing.

I am glad that M.I.A. made the point that we need to stop killing Palestinians,

I just wish she hadn't made it so graphic. I wish she had made a link at the end, at least, to show us what we could do to stop the killing.
